TBR Session #038
Lieutenant Commander Carl Hedley Executive Officer
Lieutenant Elli-Navine Chief Engineer
Lieutenant Alexander Artopolis Chief Medical Officer
Lieutenant Scott McIntyre Chief Tactical/Security Officer
Time to go and board the evil stealth ship! Gotta work out what it was doing here. Space suits for everyone, hurrah! Open up the armouries, too. Phaser rifles all round!
Supposedly no lifesigns, but Carl is sceptical. Into a cargo bay it is! Hopefully there’s no enemy waiting for an ambush. Seems like a pretty standard cargo hold. Gear, food, doritos, no sudden barrage of phaser fire. A pretty good start, all things considered.
Elli picks up the secondary computer core and points in the right direction. Enviro systems are offline, so Carl feels very vindicated in mandating spacesuits. Still no lifesigns, but no handy vents or tubes to crawl through either. Door is very suspicious.
Doesn’t seem to be anything else for it. Take cover behind crates, open up the door. Turns out to be empty, but you can never be too careful. Don’t want to go through main engineering, so turn the other way instead. It’s not paranoia, it’s caution!
Despite all the totally reasonable and justified caution, doesn’t seem to be anyone about. Looks pretty quiet. Elli flashes her light by mistake, but nothing seems to come of it, so… Oh well?
Continue down the corridor past a turbolift. Don’t want to get hit from behind, so Elli makes sure they stay off.
Keep going, nothing much of interest, until reaching a corner. Seems to be a containment field down the corridor, and there’s a hole in the wall, so it’s probably holding back vacuum. Door on the left, though. No life signs, but there is machinery, and atmosphere looks a bit on the low side. Time to hop on through.
Yippee, it’s the computer core! No firefights or anything. Just a little engineering core, probably won’t have the whole record, but it should have the highlights at least. Too big to carry, could probably be beamed back, except of course there’s no contact with the ship. Bummer.
Gonna have to head into engineering after all, see if whatever that jamming is can be turned off, or broken, or something of that kidney. For now, Elli and Ral give it a look over. Most of the data is a backup for system programming and redundancy, plus making sure the warp core doesn’t explode. There is a nav log, though, so that’s handy. Looks like the thing was launched from Andorian shipyards. Interestingly, shipyards orbiting a body tht doesn’t exist in the usual universe, even though the quantum signature matches.
Looks like the Admiral in charge matches up with the guy who sent us hunting Targs… The bastard. Ship hasn’t been there, so maybe it’s the paralel universe one, but it’s got weapons which match up with universe A, not the J.J.-verse. Smells like a false flag operation? Maybe even a conspiracy!
Lock the door behind, then back up the corridor towards main engineering. Even more vindication! Elli gets shot! Hurrah!
Maybe not, on reflection, but her forcefield takes it, so no worries. Proves Carl wasn’t being paranoid, too. Basin shoots back, hits, disables a personal force field, hits the guy in the shoulder. Then Carl lays down suppressing fire while Ral advances down the corridor and sets up some overwatch. Doc sprints up and starts to scan, and now the guy is showing up as a lifesign. Looks like forcefields are messing with the signatures.
With that info, Elli’s able to work out that their forcefields have been modded to work like cloaking devices, and get a bit of a potential read on some more hostiles.
Long story short, the guy gets stunned. Basin took a hit, but he’s pretty alright. Time to press on, after the doc has seen to him a little bit. Stunned guy is wearing body armour. Wearing a starfleet uniform, but it’s all in black, as is the com badge. Gear looks a little odd, too. He’s got a phaser rifle that was considered for Starfleet marines at the start of the Dominion war which combines phaser with a slugthrower. Shoots replicated ammo. Rejected because fragmenting ammo is a little too brutal for starfleet, but someone clearly disagreed. Pistol looks more like a pistol than a TV remote.
Anyway, cuff the guy, put him out of the way, then forwards. Signature around the corner, so Basin rolls a snow-globe grenade around the corner. Guy reacts, grenade detonates, suddenly blizzard! Guy is understandably a little taken aback. Seeing an opportunity, Carl blasts him with the phaser to great effect, then Basin finishes him off.
Equipped like the last guy, so onwards. Lock the door to the cargo bay which seems to have some lads in it, then on to engineering. Elli gets a scan map of the lads inside, then Carl and Basin prepare to chuck grenades in as the door opens. Combat ensues, the guys get stunned, Victory is ours.
Elli and Ral take stock. Ship is pretty much toast, no way of fixing it without a shipyard. Jamming turned off, though, so problem solved, it seems. Surviving crew rounded up, computer cores nicked, information recovered. Job done.
We’ll take the wreck home, but ships will stay behind to make sure communications through the rift stay intact and hopefully prevent any more accidents.
