Three characters were promoted this month.
Commander Carl Hedley – XO
Lieutenant Geoffery Danielson – Chief Conn Officer
Lieutenant Commander Johnny 5
All three character preformed brilliantly in the last season and I am pleased to say that they were all promoted to their current ranks.
Service Citation – 1 yr
“Awarded to writers who have served on the sim for one year. This award is non-cumulative.”
A little late in the day but two of our crew have somehow survived me long enough to earn the One-year service citation.
Nikki – Lieutenant Commander Elli-Navine
Will – Lieutenant Alexander Artopolis
Thank you both for staying with it, through the highs and lows.
Personal Development Award
“This award will be given to the player who shows the most ooc improvement during the course of the mission. This might be demonstrated in increased participation, writing or storytelling mechanics, building collaborative community, or branching out of the player’s comfort zone into new themes.”
Nikki – Lieutenant Commander Elli-Navine
While the entire crew of the Potemkin play their characters very well in our sessions there is one person who manages to continue to develop their characters story, history and plans for the future.
Nikki has developed Elli-Navine in some absolutely wonderful ways, starting from the slightly naive and innocent beginnings through to a fine rounded Fleet Officer. One who is still wonderstruck by the universe even though she has seen some of the horrors it has to offer. I ways look forward to hearing more about Elli and how she deals with our missions. Nikki is truly an accomplished writer!
Professional Merit
“Awarded to the writer who has developed his/her character with considerable talent, making that character a joy to read about and to interact with.”
Lieutenant JG Geoffery Danielson
Simon plays Geoffery very well, he uses a mix of his own experiences in the military (although not as a pilot) and his experience of Sci-Fi to play this slightly cocky but excellent pilot who loves to fly and embodies the very core values of being a Fleet Officer, to explore and discover the true!
I enjoy GMing with Simon in the group and he always adds something new to the mix. Thank you Simon.
Lieutenant Commander Johnny 5
Steve is not new to role playing, i would never have gotten him into joining a written RPG but he has taken to the Potemkin like a Borg to assimilation! He has picked up the system well and is now fully aware of how his character skills work. He has also continued to provide small amounts of character development and background details. I am sure he is always considering how else to present his characters troubled past.
NPC Award
“This award marks the achievement of a player for his/her development of engaging, detailed NPCs who add realism and dimension to the simm.”
Will plays Basin… Basin is the Master at Arms on the Potemkin and due to his skill set he is featured in many of our sessions. Will has brought Basin to life with his role play skills, using a gruff voice I has always envisioned Basin to be somewhat of a skill guy, well-built but skinny who has never needed to prove he is the tough guy but that everyone knows it none-the-less!
Keep it up Will!
Captain’s Personal Merit
“A special award given to an individual player for outstanding service to the simm. Awarded by the Commanding Officer individually on a per merit basis.”
Tom has been our rules expert. He understands the rules and is learning the universe. He came aboard as a mission specialist but took the roll of XO shortly afterwards. I am sure i do not thank him enough for his work as an Assistant GM, his insights OCC and in our sessions has been wonderful and most welcome. He has only ever missed a handful of sessions and as such is one of the core players who has added to our story. He plays Carl and he does so very well, he is often at the front of every situation and gives levelheaded advice and suggestions, even if he does wear an EV suit in every away mission! Often a clever idea with me as a GM to be fair!
Thanks Tom!
